Erasmus MC is joining forces with other academic hospitals and companies in the European project SEISMIC, aimed at making brain surgery safer and less invasive. "These surgeries are the most dangerous for patients. That has to change."  To change this, several academic hospitals and companies decided to form a European partnership. In this SEISMIC project, Erasmus MC is joining forces with Philips and other partners to make brain surgery safer and less invasive. Erasmus MC has developed a role as scientific leader. The project is receiving €23.6 million in funding, partly from the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), of which €2.6 million is for Erasmus MC. Neurosurgeon Arnaud Vincent and neuroscientists Pieter Kruizinga and Jason Voorneveld (of the BrainEcho Lab) are leading the project.
