prof. Andries Querido
"We all have to sleep. But why? Although there is still no agreement on the function of sleep, we and other researchers have discovered quite a lot about the “hardware” (i.e. circuitry) that generates sleep. In this talk, I will outline our work on how GABA and glutamate circuitries control sleep preparatory behaviours, track sleep need, co-regulate sleep and body temperature, and respond to psychosocial stress to induce beneficial sleep".
