A critical step in neural circuit assembly is the integration of inhibitory interneurons with exquisite specificity in their numbers, distribution and synaptic connectivity. Our lab aims to identify cellular and molecular mechanisms that generate interneuron diversity and specify their precise wiring patterns in retinal and brain circuits. I will present our work on the mouse cerebellar cortex in which we are elucidating the development of interneuron cell types and the role of Cadherin superfamily recognition molecules in circuit assembly
