Congratulations to Dr. Catarina Osorio for receiving Women in STEM Incentive grant from NWO
We are happy to announce that Dr. Catarina Osorio has been awarded an Incentive Grant for Women in STEM from NWO. This grant aims to retain qualified women in science, and to provide them with a stable launchpad for an academic career.
Dr. Osorio is studying early cerebellar brain development.Cerebellar developmental defects are often the central cause of major brain disorders, including ataxia, autism spectrum disorders and schizophrenia. With this grant, she will investigate how the electrical activity of cerebellar neurons around birth is essential for brain development. This research will reveal new cellular and physiological mechanisms underlying cerebellar development that are fundamental to understand the pathophysiology of neurodevelopmental disorders.
